I have been here in North Carolina for sixteen years and it took me that many years before I could visit the Outerbanks and see the famous lighthouses of North Carolina. And I can tell you that it never disappoint. We left home at around one thirty in the morning to catch the first ferry out of Cedar Island to Ocracoke. It was a two and a half hour ferry ride and it was wonderful! From Ocracoke, we drove for about 45 minutes to catch another ferry to Hatteras Island. From there it was all by land. Allow me to share a few favorites for you to enjoy. Click on the thumbnail photos to view the slideshow in full screen.
Cedar Island Catching sunrises never gets old… No sunrises are alike… Cedar Island Ferry While on ferry… Ocracoke Inlet. Ocracoke Island & lighthouse in the distance… Ocracoke LIghthouse What to do on a ferry ride…? Hatteras Lighthouse Keepers House Hatteras Lighthouse Bodie Island Lighthouse Bodie is my second favorite. And I love how this shot turned out! We stayed at BW in Kill Devil Hills Oceanfront. Waking up to this view was pretty amazing and relaxing! Currituck Lighthouse. Located in Corolla, N.C. We climbed it all the way to the top… All 220 steps… This lighthouse also happens to be my favorite… What’s so special about this bridge? It’s the original bridge… And it’s old! Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse Located in Manteo, N.C. Cape Lookout We took another ferry ride to Cape Lookout.
Overall, the Outerbanks is a MUST place to visit!
