Dear me, It’s Sunday but I opted to stay home today due to not feeling well. I thought I’d write you a letter. Who would have thought that you, the shy-introverted girl would be living 10,000 miles away from home?……Excerpt from A Letter to my Younger Self; Finding God in the Ordinary Embracing a God Filled Life
Two days ago, I celebrated my forty-ninth (49th) birthday quietly. Last year, I spent my birthday at work, being the cleaning blogger that I am. This year, I took the day off and enjoyed a quiet day at home.
For the past several years, I always make it a point to write something on my birthday. Though this is two days late, I guess I could say I’m still keeping up with my tradition.
From time to time, I would open and read my book, Finding God in the Ordinary-Embracing a God Filled Life. And every time, I would find myself teary eyed reading through the pages. And this morning was no different. There is one post there, that is extra special to me. And that is “A Letter To My Younger Self.” Have you ever wrote to your younger self?
I wrote this letter to my younger self between 2010 to 2014, and up to now – I found out that nothing has changed much. I am still that same younger self that I am writing about. Same old soul with simple dreams. One who is not as competitive. One who is happy and content wherever or whatever circumstances and life takes me. One who sometimes….at some instances and occasions of my life, ask myself: do I have no higher dreams or purpose in life? Do I?
I want to tell you that you are one amazing girl! You did your best to excel in school and be the obedient and loving daughter that you are. I have been trying to remember anything that I could change about you but I couldn’t think of any. Maybe because I love you just the way you are…..Excerpt from A Letter to my Younger Self; Finding God in the Ordinary Embracing a God Filled Life
Do I know my purpose? When I got married and became a mother in 2002, I knew this was one of my purposes. When I started working as a housekeeper back in 2008, though it was hard to admit, I believed that I was planted in there for a reason and a purpose. When I first started blogging and writing back in 2009, I fully believed that, that’s one of my purposes. When I published my book in 2015 for my 45th birthday, I knew that this book has a purpose.
What’s important is you’re doing what makes you who you are. I wish I could tell you I regretted things I haven’t done, but then again I may not be who I am now. I don’t have much and I am not famous but I am happy with what I’ve become. I can tell you that I haven’t changed that much. I am still the same down to earth, simple and easy to please kind of person like you always are….Excerpt from A Letter to my Younger Self; Finding God in the Ordinary Embracing a God Filled Life
Now at forty nine, sometimes….I can’t help but feel like I am still not living according to my purpose. I still feel that I am but a lost soul. That I am just trying to stay afloat….I am just one of the crowd. Have you ever felt this way? Or asked yourself the same question…Am I living my purpose? My higher purpose…?
This has been my heart’s prayer lately. For me to know my higher purpose…
And fulfill it, according to His will and plans.
We still got a long journey ahead of us but I want you to know that I love you and I always will.
All my love,
