Your Oubaitori

Have you heard of the word Oubaitori?

Oubaitori is an ancient Japanese idiom that comes from the kanji for the four trees (cherry blossoms, plum, peach and apricot) that blooms in spring. Each flower blooms in its own time and the meaning behind the idiom is that we all grow and bloom at our own pace.

So, Oubaitori is the Japanese idea that people, like flowers, bloom in their own time and in their individual ways.

What a beautiful way to highlight and look at our individual differences!

Itโ€™s a beautiful reminder that each one of us has our own journey through life and we should focus on our growth and not compare ourselves so much to others and to always celebrate our individuality and uniqueness.

The Oubaitori way is about enjoying a fulfilling life by doing what is right for each one of us at the time and in the manner that is right for us.

It is a great reminder that we are our own person and values, successes (or failures), mindsets and perspectives as well as our experiences and choices create different paths for us.

Like the flowers that bloom in their own time, we will also bloom in our own way and own time.

In this age and time of social media and influencers, it is easy to compare ourselves and unconsciously feel depressed that our life is not as โ€œperfect.โ€

Whenever you find yourself comparing your growth and achievements to someone else, think of the Oubaitori.

Your time will come in the manner that is right for you.

Until next time,
