There is a kind of weariness that arrives quietly.
It doesn’t always announce itself.
There may be no particular moment to point to, no single thing that can be blamed for it. It is simply there, somewhere between one ordinary day and the next, settling into the spaces where words usually live.
Everything may look much the same from the outside.
The days still pass. There are still things to do, conversations to have, places to be. Life continues in its usual rhythm, even when something inside has grown a little quieter.
A little farther away.
And perhaps that is what makes this kind of weariness difficult to explain.
There is nothing clear enough to name.
It may have come from things that hurt, things that changed, things that had to be accepted. It may have come from carrying what needed to be carried and quietly setting aside what could not be carried anymore.
Sometimes it is not even about one particular thing.
Sometimes life simply accumulates.
A little here. A little there.
Until one day, the heart feels full in a way that doesn’t look like fullness at all.
It looks like sitting a little longer than usual.
It looks like staring through a window without really looking at anything.
It looks like being surrounded by familiar things and wanting nothing from them.
It looks like a long exhale that seems to come from somewhere much deeper than the lungs.
And perhaps there is no need to go searching for the reason.
Somewhere along the way, even the reasons become tiring.
So there is no explanation.
Just quiet.
And then, sometimes, a tear.
Not a dramatic one. Not the kind that asks to be noticed.
Just a tear that slips down quietly, almost as though the heart had opened a small door without asking permission.
Maybe it isn’t sadness exactly.
Maybe it is simply what happens when something has been held for too long.
There are moments when the heart seems to know before the mind does that it has had enough for a while.
Enough noise.
Enough figuring things out.
Enough trying to make sense of what cannot yet be made sense of.
And perhaps this is why there are seasons when silence feels kinder than words.
Because words can make everything feel more definite.
And not everything needs to be definite.
Some things can remain unnamed for a little while.
A feeling can exist without becoming a conclusion.
A quiet day can simply be a quiet day.
A tear can simply be a tear.
There is a softness in not reaching for an explanation every time something inside feels different.
In letting the moment remain unfinished.
In sitting there long enough for the heaviness to become less frightening simply because it has been allowed to exist without being questioned.
Maybe that is all the heart needs sometimes.
Not an answer.
Not a reason.
Just a little room.
A little stillness.
A little time in which nothing is being asked of it.
And perhaps, after a while, the quiet begins to feel different.
Not because everything has been resolved.
Not because the weariness has suddenly disappeared.
But because it has been allowed to rest.
The room is still quiet. The day is still moving slowly. There may still be things waiting for tomorrow.
But tomorrow does not have to be carried tonight.
For now, there can simply be this small pause in the middle of everything.
A place where nothing needs to be explained.
A place where a tired heart can breathe without having to pretend it isn’t tired.
Perhaps the weariness will eventually find its name.
Perhaps it won’t.
Either way, it does not have to be named to be real.
And maybe that is enough.
To let the moment be what it is, without asking it to become anything more.
To sit quietly until the tears have passed.
To breathe a little deeper.
To look out at the ordinary world again and realize that, for this moment at least, nothing needs to be figured out.
The heart can simply be tired.
And still, somehow, be held by the quiet.
Held long enough to rest.
Held long enough for morning to come.
Until next time,
