I am currently in a social media detox, meaning no logging in on facebook.
Because of this detox, I find myself doing more of what I should be doing.
In a previous conversation with my youngest sister, she mentioned that I got my talent for writing from our father, which I’d be honored to have.
Ganbatte is a Japanese word which means to “do your best” or to “persevere.” A word of encouragement to keep going, no matter the obstacles.
So, how do we find our Ganbatte?
When I was growing up, I always thought of myself as shy and timid, lacking self confidence and weak, both emotionally and physically.
I give up easily on many things. I never fought for what I thought I deserved. A little setback would be enough for me to give up and let go.
But, as I aged, I was fortunate to be put in situations that made me find my Ganbatte.
I’m talking about difficult and challenging situations that showed me no other way but to keep going, to persevere.
You see, the challenge here is not finding our own Ganbatte, but it is in becoming who we are, in spite of what we went through.
Today, I think I may have outgrown some of the shyness and timidity, and I now know how to be stronger. I still find myself giving up easily on some things, things that I believe are not worth fighting for.
Set backs? I still face those. But I know now when to step back, when to move forward, or when it’s time to let it go.
Experience has taught me that not all letting go is a loss.
Sometimes, that’s when you win.
Until next time,

I so resonate … in many ways. ( a good detox is good for the mind, body & soul ) Enjoy your time away & thanks for sharing.
