When Connections Are More Than Coincidences.
There’s a beautiful Korean word—In Yun (인연)—that speaks of fate, connection, and the unseen threads that draw people together. It’s hard to translate perfectly into English, but it carries the weight of many lifetimes, implying that every encounter is not by chance, but the result of ties woven long before this moment.
According to the idea of In Yun, even brushing shoulders with someone on the street may mean your souls met in another life. A shared glance, a conversation that lingers, a connection that feels strangely familiar—none of these are random. They are echoes of something deeper, layered with meaning, tethered by invisible cords of past and purpose.
I’ve thought a lot about the people who have come into my life—some staying, others passing through like seasons. Some hurt me, some healed me. Some taught me things I didn’t know I needed to learn. And while not all connections were gentle, I’ve come to believe they were all significant. Each encounter, however brief or lasting, shaped a part of who I am.
In Yun reminds me that life isn’t just a series of coincidences—it’s a tapestry. Some threads are soft and comforting, others rough and jarring. But each one matters. Each one adds to the whole.
So if you’ve ever met someone and felt like you’ve known them forever…
If you’ve ever experienced an unexplainable pull toward a stranger…
If a goodbye ever felt heavier than it should’ve for such a short time together…
Maybe it was In Yun.
And maybe it’s a reminder that love, connection, and purpose stretch further than what we can see.
Until next time,
