I’ve always believe that my parents love for each other was one in a million. I never doubt that.
“To me, your mom means the world.” – Yang Gwan Sik
If I am fascinated with Japanese words, I am as much fascinated with Korean Dramas. Somehow they have a way of letting the audience immerse themselves as if they’re living their lives on the screen.
Such is the love between Ae-sun and Gwan -sik. Their love is so beautiful, honest, deep, tragic and inspiring all at the same time. That was one of the most beautiful stories of love I’ve seen in a long time.
“How could I leave you behind? I’d feel better if I gave you a good send-off first and followed afterward.” – Yang Gwan Sik
I’ve seen a lot of social media posts about Gwan-sik raising the bar as to how a husband and love should be and I couldn’t agree more. But the truth is, there are only a few Gwan-siks and a few like my father. Men of their kind are not made but born to be like that. Wouldn’t you agree? We cannot make men to be as selfless and loving, no matter what’s given to them or how much they’re love. It’s a sad reality that no Korean dramas can erase.

“To know what a man is like, you must look at his father. They learn how to treat their family from their father.” – Oh Ae Sun
Have you ever questioned your relationship with your parents?
Let’s take a look at Gwan-sik and Ae-sun’s love for their children.
“I had a loving dad. But my dad didn’t have a loving daughter.” – Geum Myeong
“I left my mom’s home, got married, and became a mom myself. The farther she was, the brighter she glowed in my heart. Only a mother could do that.” – Geum Myeong
“We took dad for granted as though we owned him forever.” – Geum Myeong
“One day, you’ll be a background figure in your child’s life anyway. So just do more of what you want to do.” – Oh Ae Sun
“To us, dad was the sea. We all relied on him to live.” – Geum Myeong
If you haven’t seen a good series lately, go get your tissues handy.
“To my love, from the age of nine until now, thanks to you, my life has been spring every day. Until the spring we meet again, I’ll live as though every day is spring.” – Oh Ae Sun
To my parents, not my words but with my deepest sentiments…
“To their seasons, once so young and still so tender, with remorse, gratitude, and the deepest respect. Here’s to all you’ve been through.” – Geum Myeong
Until next time,
