When I look up the meaning of seasons, the words that stand out aside from the obvious are:
Results of the earth’s CHANGING position.
To SEASON to taste.
To make wood SUITABLE for use. To season wood.
As you can see, no matter what it refers to, changes need to happen.
The same goes with the seasons of life.
Come to think of it…
Fall for exquisite beauty as well as difficulties and falling behind.
Spring for renewal and blooming.
Summer for drought or growth.
Winter for hibernation? Frigidness?
We each go through seasonal changes. Us as individuals, our relationships (there’s friendships, families, marriages), careers, among other things. No matter what the season we are in, the changes and the outcomes totally depend on us.
Just like going through every season, we are given the opportunities to learn, to adapt, to be stronger and to be prepared for the next one.
But….
There are those of us who are not ready to embrace the next season.
Some stay where they are.
There are others who welcome the change, but don’t fully embrace it. They let the season they were in take away what could have been brought in for the next season.
And the process continues. Season by season, we deny ourselves the opportunity for renewal and growth. We carry with us remnants of what was instead of seeds of what would be.
I’ve had those seasons. But as I go through each seasons, I’ve learned, I adapted, I grow and became stronger. I’ll be the first to tell you that it was not easy. There would be seasons where it’s much harder to carry the seeds for the next seasons. There would be seasons when the remnants of what was creeps in. And then there are seasons where there would be none.
And it’s perfectly okay. You know why?
Because each seasons takes time, as do the earth when it changes position.
Change is the only constant in life, and the seasons have their own unique way of reminding us of that.
As we begin a new season, it’s always a good reminder that life is like an echo. What we send out comes back to us. If you want love, give love. If you want kindness, be kind. For each seeds we plant, something of the same kind blooms.
Until next time,
