In a few days or weeks (depending on the elevation) the mountains of NC would’ve been ours and others trip destinations for their magnificent fall colors. As you would’ve heard by now, Western NC took a devastating hit from Hurricane Helene. The devastation is truly heartbreaking.
As I’m here thankful for the sun and the beautiful weather and enjoying this quiet moment at our home, I can’t help but think of the people of Western NC (as well as parts of Florida and Tennessee).
As I look around and browse social media, I see people going through their day to day lives. I see events and happenings around NC and the world.
While on the other side of the state, there are people with no homes, whole communities gone and isolated, and family missing loved ones.
And perhaps in all of this we ask, where is God in all of this?
All I know is, God is always with us. He was then. He is now. He will be in the days to come.
Friends, please help me lift up the people of Western NC and everyone else in other parts of the country and the world that are having a very, very difficult time right now and in the days to come. May we in our moments of busyness and joy, remember those who are struggling to find their way ahead. May we never be oblivious of other’s sufferings.
And in our moments of feeling that we do not have enough, may we see abundance.
Dear God, I thank you for always being there for us in-spite of our shortcomings and absence. I thank you for always seeing us through the difficult times. Lord, we lift the people and communities of Western NC and others who are impacted by devastation. Be with them Lord, for nothing is impossible with you by their side. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Until next time,
