Dream Catcher

“Don’t let someone else catch your dreams. You be the dream catcher.”

I am always fascinated with dream catchers. I also believe in their purpose. It could be this fascination with it, that made me a magnet for having connective dreams. When I say connective, I mean dreaming about people whom I haven’t seen or talked to in a very long time. I also dream of dead people. They could be relatives or people whom I know in passing, more like acquaintances. Though it’s just a dream, the connection is evident.

“Only an open heart will catch a dream.”

When I was younger, I would dream of events, places and people whom I’ve never met or been to and when it finally happened, naturally, it would give me that feeling of I’ve been here or seen this before. I remember asking one of my professor about it and I was told that I have a strong precognition, I see things before it happens, only it appear in my dreams, precognitive dreams to be exact. That conversation made me worried about all the bad dreams that I had or will have. I remember thinking to myself, I don’t want all these bad events to happen. Now, whether these are actually precognitive dreams (scientifically speaking), I don’t know. All I know, I’ve seen it and experienced it myself.

” Dreams feel real while we’re in them. It’s only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange.”

Now back to dreaming about deceased people. For some strange reason, I knew the stages that they were in that particular moment. Like, they’re still around. Or when they’re crossing to the other side or when it’s finally time for them to leave and move on. You are probably thinking that I am a strange creature. Sometimes, I feel that I am too. But it happens…all I can do is pray for them when I dream of them.

“Dreams are often most profound when they seem the most crazy.”

Sigmund Freud

You know what would be nice? Dreaming about things that would be the answer to all of mine or the world’s problems or directions that I could take that would help me achieved my goals. But, I supposed there’s no such dreams…?

And then, there are those dreams….

” I’ll take the dream I had last night, And put it in my freezer, So someday long and far away, When I’m an old grey geezer, I’ll take it out and thaw it out, This lovely dream I’ve frozen, And boil it up and sit me down And dip my old cold toes in.”

Shel Silverstein
